We’re always happy to hear from students and researchers interested in statistics, machine learning, and their applications to science and society.

Who we’re looking for

We welcome interest from people with backgrounds in statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related quantitative fields, at different stages:

• Undergraduate students looking for a scientific initiation (iniciação científica) project.
• Master’s and PhD applicants interested in joining our graduate research group.
• Postdoctoral researchers looking for a host lab for a fellowship application.
• Visiting researchers and collaborators working on related problems.

How to apply

Most of our students join through the graduate program in Statistics run jointly by UFSCar and USP (Programa Interinstitucional de Pós-Graduação em Estatística, UFSCar–USP), or through undergraduate research programs at UFSCar. If you’re interested in:

• Graduate studies (MSc/PhD) — apply through the graduate program’s regular selection process, and mention which faculty member’s work interests you.
• Undergraduate research — reach out directly with your CV/transcript and a short note on what topics interest you.
• Postdoc or visiting positions — reach out directly with your CV; availability depends on ongoing funding and projects.
